The C3G Plus controller, developed by Comau Robotics, incorporates a 32-bit, high speed multi-processor for high level processing power and therefore highly precise, fast robot motion.

The hardware architecture is divided into three functional areas:

1. Control of the robot and of the interfaces towards the external environment
2. Arc welding, spot welding, press line, handling application package
3. Safety of all the specific functions of the basic cell and of the application

Full management of safety capabilities

The functional area dedicated to the safety capabilities includes all the safety circuits complying with the EN 775 standard required for cell management. This solution eliminates the need to preset external interlocks for safety device management: all the functions provided (external emergency stop buttons, safety gates, etc.) can be accessed simply connecting to the C3G Plus.

Complete cell management

The C3G Plus is the ideal controller not only for the robot but also for complete management of the cell; it is able to interface field networks, PLCs, remote 1/0 bases managed by integrated PLC, CAD and simulation systems and other external devices.

Application Packages

The Application Box that can be installed above the controller includes all the hardware devices required to run the specific application. Standard Application Boxes are available for: low / medium frequency spot welding, arc welding, press line handling. Empty Application Boxes can be furnished to permit insertion of cell management devices that are normally located elsewhere. The standard applications are managed by specific software packages developed by Comau Robotics that provide the operator with a complete, user-friendly interface, assuring process, parameter and specific function diagnostics.

The C3G-PTU4 ergonomic portable programming terminal consists of a 16-line, 40-column back-Iit LCD display, keyboard and dedicated robot motion function keys.
